Exhibition Plan
For teachers and student organizers: plan the gallery like a gallery, not a science fair.
Designer: Date:
The shape of it
How many displays?
One-time event or temporary exhibit?
Runway show attached?
Location:
Cafeteria, library, classroom, hallway, community space, or a virtual gallery
Date & setup time:
Each display includes
- Design sketches (the process is as important as the product)
- Work-in-progress photos
- The finished piece — or a photo if it's being modeled
- The artist statement card
Floor plan
Sketch the room: displays, walking path, power outlets, and lighting. Remember — the pieces glow, so where can the room go dim?
Gallery rules of thumb
- Uniform poster/statement design so the gallery reads clean and professional
- Room between displays for the audience to move comfortably
- No "science fair" long-table lineups
- Designers and models have practiced answering questions
