At theMake.club we train young engineers in skills and values from Silicon Valley’s Maker Movement. The Maker Movement grew in California out of the DIY culture, focusing on technology, sharing, and learning-by-doing. Members are guided through engineering projects, not only creating exciting products but also practicing methods of creativity, planning, and presentation.
Barack Obama and Xi Jinping are both supporting Makers with government funding, and leaders worldwide recognize the value of high-tech education and innovation. At theMake.club we are building a bridge between Chinese and USA Makers by introducing kids from both countries to each other, enabling them to share projects and experiences.
Founders Ben Simpson & Carrie Leung have worked in high tech companies in San Francisco, they are now in Shenzhen enjoying the opportunity to explore the world. By sharing their love of Making, students will have an opportunity to practice interesting and useful skills, and find their own love of turning ideas into reality.

Some young makers working hard: young makers engaged and learning at SAIS, Garden City Make Club, Chai Huo Makerspace, and Litchee Lab.

Originally the home page of theMake.club, one of SteamHead’s first websites. Restored in 2026 from the Internet Archive’s capture of January 11, 2016. The opening text and the About Us section already existed on August 12, 2015, as marketing copy for theMake.club’s classes at Litchee Lab, so the post is dated to that day; the page as a whole, including the lists of locations and friends, is as captured in January 2016.
